The person behind Senior Street Advisory

Joel Schneider is a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® and founder of Senior Street Advisory, LLC — an independent Medicare and senior benefits advisory firm serving seniors across Kentucky and Ohio.
Joel’s path to Medicare advisory wasn’t a straight line. After years in logistics and financial services, he watched firsthand how dramatically life changes when older adults move from a working income to a fixed one — and how much the right guidance (or the wrong decision) can shape retirement. That gap between the complexity of Medicare and the lack of trustworthy, personalized help is exactly what led him to build Senior Street Advisory.
Today, Joel helps individuals and families understand their Medicare options, navigate coverage decisions, and plan confidently for life in retirement. His background in financial services also informs a broader view of retirement security — including how income, benefits, and coverage work together over time.
After climbing the corporate ladder faster than I expected, I found myself burned out and asking hard questions — who am I, what do I want, what actually matters?
The answer came through community service. When I started volunteering and giving my time to others, everything shifted. Helping someone navigate a problem they couldn’t solve alone didn’t just make a difference for them — it gave me purpose again.
That experience changed the trajectory of my career. I stopped chasing advancement and started looking for work where I could genuinely help people. Medicare and retirement planning sit at one of the most confusing, high-stakes crossroads a person can face. Being the person who makes that clearer — that’s why I’m here.
What is the moment or experience that made you realize this work actually mattered — not as a career, but as something worth doing?
